Casual Bike Ride at Rod Fai Park Chatuchak

Well, it can be a Tour de France or a casual bike ride, it’s up to you.

When we used to live in Aree, we went to parks a lot. During COVID, parks were the only places that we can breathe in fresh air, and Queen Sirikit and Rod Fai parks are our go-to choices because they are just around the corner, so we can be there for one or two hours in the evening and came back in time for dinner, and the flowers and plants at Queen Sirikit Park are really nice. (The area is a cluster of three parks, namely Chatuchak Park, Queen Sirikit Park and Rod Fai Park)

After we have our first son, we shifted toward Rod Fai Park (Wachirabenchathat Park), because it has the bike track that goes through the park and our son loves it! Rent a housewife’s bike with a child seat for 40 baht and you can be there for hours, and there are playgrounds and play spaces along the way. The track around the park is 3 kilometers long, and you can ride on and on until you’re tired. For me, 2-3 rounds are enough. I love it that I can stop by to explore plants along the way as well, so I am always be the last one hanging behind. After we moved to Latkrabang, we still go there from time to time for a bike ride. I think it is the only park in Bangkok that have this bike renting service. Oh, and the food at the restaurant next to the park (named Thiraree) is great too!

Rod Fai Park is a big green lung of Bangkok. If you are exhausted from Chatuchak weekend market, you can come here to have a break or a picnic. It might take some time to walk from the MRT (Chatuchak Park Station) or BTS (Mochit Station) and as a Thai (we don’t like walking in the heat) it would be better to take a taxi or a tuktuk. You will love it.
