Ok, today we are not traveling to anywhere, but I would like to share about Bangkok, the City of Angels where I’m currently living in.
And ok, almost everyone knows Bangkok. It’s Thailand’s capital, a tourist city, sanctuary of shopping malls, important cultural attraction, but what most people don’t know about is that Bangkok is where a small fashion community is located. Thai people are creative by nature. In the past, we can see it in art and architecture. At present, we can see it in fashion. Although the community is small and closely-knitted, but if you had a chance to walk in Siam Center or Central Embassy you will see how diverse this community is. And many have made it to the international, or even global, level.
To support the Thai fashion industry, a governmental organization called The Thailand Institute of Design and Innovation Promotion under the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has organized a pop-up showcase to present the works of leading Thai designers in Paris, the capital of fashion. The Bangkok Showroom project, which runs from June 24-28 (during Paris Fashion Week) at Galerie Farideh Cadot showcases the latest collections of 12 fashion and jewelry designers including Ake Ake, Curated, Jinumo, Lala Love, LA. Jewelry, Leisure, Project Store, Q Design and Play, Six PM, SSAP, Tube Gallery Tandt, and Vinn Patararin.
If you want to know how contemporary Thai design looks like, and if you happen to be in Paris or somewhere close by, don’t forget to drop by!
