Of all hotels in Bangkok, The Peninsula Bangkok is one of a few hotels that take art seriously. After launching its first artist in residence Kawita Vatanajyangkur several months back, it is time to unveil the second Thai artist who will spend some time in this luxury hotel to create new works. That artist is Pichaya Osoth. And of course, she comes with a special “Triple A” afternoon tea set to match her creative style.

In Thailand, Pitchaya was one of the pioneers to combine her art with AR technology. For this afternoon tea, her hand-drawn illustrations inspired by the Himmapan forest come alive. This is the story behind the afternoon tea’s name “Triple A”, which comes from “Afternoon Tea, Art &AR.”
In Thai culture, the Himmapan forest is the abode of mythical flora and fauna, so here we will see butterflies, lions, and also kinnari (half-bird, half woman) dancing over your cup of tea and colorful macarons. This limited edition afternoon tea will be available everyday until 12 August (1,600++ THB per two persons).
After tea, guests are invited to visit the artist’s studio. One of the hotel’s double room was transformed into Pitchaya’s residence for several months. The studio is open for visit on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 12 August as well. Pitchaya said that she love Thai temples and the temple murals have been great inspirations to her, and we can see that in some of the art works shown at this studio.
Since I’m a big fan for prints and patterns, no need to tell you how much I love this!
